The NHL announced the recipient of an award on Monday morning. Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov is the winner of the 2024-25 Frank J. Selke Trophy.
It is an award that is given to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game, as selected by the Professional Hockey Writers Association. Barkov won it last year as well.
Minnesota Wild forward Marcus Foligno finished 16th in voting for the Selke. He received one first place vote, along with a third, a fourth, and a fifth place vote.

Foligno, 33, had 14 goals, 15 assists, 29 points, 253 hits, and was a plus-seven in 77 games during the 2024-25 season for the Wild.
Although he didn't have as tough of matchups as previous years, Foligno still finished at the top of the league in many defensive analytics. He led the Wild in Wins Above Replacement (WAR) as well.
It is the fourth time in his career, Foligno has gotten some Selke votes. He finished 24th in 2018-19, 11th in 2020-21, and ninth in 2021-22.
