The Minnesota Wild announced on Monday that the team has agreed on a contract with Travis Boyd. The deal is a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 in the NHL and $550,000 in the AHL.
Boyd, 30, played in 16 games last year for the Arizona Coyotes and recorded two goals, eight points, 12 shots, and 10 blocked shots. He missed 60 games due to injury last season.
The native of Hopkins, Minn., has appeared in 296 career games in parts of seven NHL seasons with the Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and the Coyotes.
He has recorded 47 goals, 71 assists, 118 points, 74 penalty minutes, 280 shots, and 170 blocked shots in his career.
The 6-foot forward also spent four years at the University of Minnesota from 2011 to 2015. He finished his career as a Gopher with 32 goals, 63 assists, 96 points, and a plus-17 rating in 148 games.
Boyd helped the Gophers win a Big Ten Championship during the 2014-15 season and earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors the same season. He now returns home to Minnesota on a one-year deal and will be the 24th Gopher ever to play for the Wild.
