A report came out yesterday that the Wild have signed defenseman Zach Bogosian to a two-year extension and has now been announced by the Wild.

ST. PAUL — It was reported yesterday that the Wild were closing in on signing defenseman Zach Bogosian to a two-year contract extension worth $1.25 million a season.

It has now been announced by the Wild.

There was some thought the Wild could trade Bogosian at the deadline considering many teams like to acquire a player like Bogosian for the playoffs.

But the Wild have put an end to that after a report came out that an extension has been signed for Bogosian.

Bogosian, 33, has fit in well for the Wild after the acquired him earlier this season from the Tampa Bay Lightning for a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

The former cup-winning defenseman with the Lightning, has played a lot better with the Wild this year than he did with Tampa earlier this season. He has spent most of the year on a line with Jonas Brodin which has been a great pair with Brock Faber playing with Jake Middleton ahead of them.

This is a good contract for the Wild. Not a lot of money tied up but also with the way Bogosian has played, it makes sense.

Jared Spurgeon is expected to make a full recovery from his season ending back and hip surgeries and will fit back in the top-four next year for the Wild.

This would move Bogosian down to the bottom pair where he would likely play with Declan Chisholm. Which makes a great defensive core for the Wild.
