New York lands a former All-Ivy standout, acquiring the rights to the skilled Harvard blue-liner after four productive NCAA seasons.

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Wild have made another organizational move, trading defenseman prospect Ryan Healey to the New York Islanders in exchange for future considerations.

Healey, 22, spent the past four seasons at Harvard University, where he developed into one of the Crimson's top blue-liners.

During the 2025-26 season, the right-shot defenseman recorded four goals and eight assists for 12 points in 33 games, ranking second among Harvard defensemen in scoring.

The Chicago native wrapped up his collegiate career with 19 goals and 36 assists for 55 points across 130 NCAA games. His standout 2023-24 campaign earned him First Team All-Ivy League honors, while he was also recognized as a member of the ECAC All-Rookie Team following his freshman season.

Minnesota originally selected the 6-foot, 183-pound defenseman in the fourth round (121st overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft.

The Islanders will now have the opportunity to sign the former Harvard defenseman as he begins the next chapter of his professional career. Or he can walk to free agency and sign with any team he wants on August 15.
