The superstar winger matched Ovechkin’s rare goal-scoring feat and carried Minnesota to the top of the Central Division, positioning himself just one point shy of a major milestone.

Minnesota Wild superstar Kirill Kaprizov has been named the NHL's Second Star for the month of October following a historic start to the 2026-27 season.

Kaprizov led the NHL with 14 goals in 15 games, adding 10 assists for 24 points while helping Minnesota finish October with a 9-3-3 record and 21 points, good for first place in the Central Division.

His 14 goals tied the Wild's franchise record for most goals in a single calendar month, a mark Kaprizov originally set in March 2022. He also became the first NHL player to score 14 goals in October since Alex Ovechkin accomplished the feat in 2009.

The 29-year-old scored in 10 of Minnesota's 15 games, including a hat trick against the Florida Panthers on Oct. 10. He also recorded three game-winning goals and finished the month with 51 shots on goal.
