Wild top prospect confirmed on 'This is Hockey Brother!' that he is signing an extension with Metallurg of the KHL.
Danila Yurov hoped on a Russian hockey show and confirmed he is staying another year for Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL.
"Well, I think that in the near future and in principle, all the details have been settled," Yurov told the show on the status of his contract with Metallurg. "You can say that I am staying."
Yurov, 20, recently tied Vladimir Tarasenko's KHL record for most points in a single season at the age of 20. He has 21 goals and 47 points in 56 games for Metallurg, which is the top team in the KHL, this season.
The decision for Yurov was likely because he felt he would've been in the AHL with Iowa if he signed a contract for the Wild. If that is the case, then this contract isn't a bad thing for the Wild. Yurov will get another year of development in the KHL before he comes to Minnesota.
Yurov joins the show at 2:18. The Full Yurov press conference is below.
