Butcher, 29, was acquired by the Minnesota Wild [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/minnesota-wild/] in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins last season. He played in 14 AHL games before the trade with Pittsburgh's minor league team. Butcher finished the 2023-24 season with the Iowa Wild. In 24 games with Iowa, Butcher recorded three goals, six assists, and nine points. He has now signed a contract with Barys Astana of the KHL. He was traded for forward Maxim Cajkovic who also recently left the AHL to sign a contract in the Czech Extraliga with HC Litvinov.
