While the busiest part of the NHL off-season has passed, the possibility of the Canadiens still trading more players should not be ruled out.
Now that we are nearing the middle of July, it is no secret that activity around the NHL has cooled off since the beginning of the month. Although this is the case, teams should still be looking to make more moves before the start of the 2026-27 season.
The Montreal Canadiens could be a team to watch as the summer rolls on. When looking at their roster, they have some trade candidates who have the potential to be moved.
Due to this, let's take a look at two Canadiens who still could be traded by the end of the off-season.
Kirby Dach
Questions about Kirby Dach's future have come up this off-season. The 25-year-old forward recently filed for arbitration after posting eight goals and 15 points in 37 games during the 2025-26 season. With Dach being a big center on the right side of 30, he could be a decent trade chip for Montreal to include in a trade package to upgrade their roster elsewhere.
Samuel Montembeault
The possibility of the Canadiens trading Samuel Montembeault before the season is there. The Canadiens have Jakob Dobes and Jacob Fowler ahead of Montembeault on their depth chart, so it would be hard for him to get into games if he stays put in Montreal. The Habs would also benefit by moving on from his $3.15 million cap hit.
