Let's look at three teams that could target Samuel Montembeault this summer.

Samuel Montembeault is a clear trade candidate for the Montreal Canadiens heading into the off-season. Due to his struggles this season, he dropped to the No. 3 spot on the Canadiens' depth chart behind young goaltenders Jakub Dobes and Jacob Fowler.

With this and Montembeault having a $3.15 million cap hit, it would not be surprising if Montreal traded him this off-season. Let's look at three teams that could target him this summer because of it.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers could be a team to watch when it comes to Montembeault this off-season. They need to find an upgrade for their backup spot over Samuel Ersson, and Montembeault would give them that if he bounced back next season. If Montembeault regained his previous form, he could form a solid tandem with Dan Vladar in Philly.

Florida Panthers

Could the Florida Panthers look to reunite with Montembeault this off-season? Both Sergei Bobrovsky and Daniil Tarasov are pending unrestricted free agents (UFAs), so the Panthers may need to add at least one goalie this summer. With this, the Panthers could make sense as a landing spot for Montembeault.

New York Rangers

With Jonathan Quick retiring, the New York Rangers could be another team to keep an eye on with Montembeault. He could be a nice buy-low addition for the retooling Rangers. If he bounced back in a backup role for New York, he could give them a decent trade chip to dangle at next year's trade deadline.
