The last season was very eventful for the Montreal Canadiens. There were ups, there were a lot of downs early on, but overall, it was the most positive season since the 2021 Stanley Cup final run. Earlier this week, the team released a fantastic 21-minute short film that tells the tale of their incredible season.

From talking about being in the mix at the golf tournament to being in the playoffs on the last day of the season, the film covers it from start to finish. The disheartening moment when Patrik Laine and David Reibacher fell to injuries minutes into their first exhibition game, but also the big Finn’s smile when he was introduced to the crowd on opening night.

Of course, the loss of Brendan Gallagher’s mother also made the cut, to show just how strong the bond is between the players and how his teammates were there to support him through that incredible loss.

The debut of Lane Hutson, Emil Heineman, Jakub Dobes, and Ivan Demidov was also featured beautifully. Watching the film, you can almost feel the effervescence in the Bell Centre on that night. The Russian’s first point, followed in short order by hisr first goal, it’s all there.

The coach’s most memorable quotes also take centre stage from “you’ve got to steal a chair” to “why would I listen to the critics of people I would never take advice from”, the film depicts St-Louis as he is; a genuine man who wears his heart on his sleeve and is all in with his player. We also see a couple of punitive practices in which the players had to do a lot of intense skating, followed by the players telling us why it was deserved.

This is mandatory viewing for any Canadiens fan and the perfect way to get ready for the upcoming season of The Rebuild: Inside the Montreal Canadiens, season 2 on Crave on August 21.
