Laval is set for a playoff run and sometimes the Montreal Canadiens will need a player to join them on an emergency basis and one of the players they won’t be able to count on is Rafael Harvey-Pinard. He’s had some back luck this season as far as staying healthy is concerned.
Laval is all set for a playoff run, but the winger will be out until around April 30th with an upper body injury. That puts a damper on helping either club for a while. I know he’s only played one NHL game this season but he has played 84 in his career and you never know when depth is going to be tested at the NHL level.
In the AHL, he’s been middle of the road as far as point production but that happens sometimes. I think the recovery from the broken leg and injuries are to blame. They can rob a player from that consistency coaches crave and going in and out of the lineup hurts their conditioning. I think we sometimes forget that when they get thrusted back into action after a number of practices and then expect them to play at pace immediately.
Let’s see if Laval can go on a run along with the Canadiens. That’s a good thing for fans and for management to let them know they’re on the right track. Sometimes luck plays a part too. Hockey injuries are plentiful as you know and no organization is immune to them.
