Free agency signings continued this week for the Laval Rocket, as they announced a new deal with forward Alex-Olivier Voyer. The 24-year-old right winger inked a one-year, one-way AHL contract for the upcoming season.
Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Voyer has split time over the past three years between the AHL and the ECHL. In the 2022-23 season, the 6-foot-2, 192-pound forward played seven games with the Providence Bruins. He also appeared in 48 games for the Maine Mariners, where he registered 23 goals and 20 assists for 43 points and earned the distinction of being named ECHL Player of the Week in late December.
Voyer has played 70 career AHL games, all with Providence, tallying eight goals and eight assists in that time. In his 65 career ECHL games played, Voyer has accumulated 26 goals and 26 assists for 52 points.
This signing follows a few other contract announcements made by the Laval Rocket this week. Of the new players on AHL contract, most notable is forward Jared Davidson, the Canadiens prospect drafted in 2022 who is coming off of a stellar season playing for the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL. Davidson also made significant contributions in the postseason as Seattle made its run for the Memorial Cup.
