The Montreal Canadiens experienced their most NHL-like game on Monday night when they pulled off an overtime victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The prospects finally saw the opposition talent from the likes of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander.
After the penultimate preseason game, no additional roster cuts were made, but plenty were slashed off the training camp list over the weekend. Those moves were made just in time for the Laval Rocket to open their AHL training camp on Monday.
The Rocket camp roster is comprised of 37 players, including forwards Lias Andersson and Philippe Maillet who were added on Monday after they cleared waivers.
With such a big emphasis being placed on development this season, more eyes will be on the American League affiliate, particularly watching how the prospects perform. But first, decisions must be made on who makes the initial Laval lineup, and who will be watching from the stands or sent down to the Trois-Rivieres Lions in the ECHL.
On this week's episode of The Press Zone podcast, Amy provides a comprehensive look at Laval's training camp roster and schedule, and then examines who's left on the Canadiens' camp roster who could ultimately be sent to join the group in Place Bell by the end of the week.
To explore these topics further, we invite you to listen to the latest edition of The Press Zone podcast, hosted by Amy Johnson. This weekly show provides Habs fans with the latest news, analysis, and commentary regarding the Laval Rocket, Canadiens prospects, and American Hockey League news.
