Forsberg has been a big part of the Predators' success this season and especially lately.
Filip Forsberg's last 20 games encompasses the final loss before the 18-game point streak by the Nashville Predators and the loss to end that streak as well. He has been a force to be reckoned with over that stretch and a huge reason why the team is where they are and were able to successfully climb the standings and nearly secure a playoff spot.
Forsberg is the Predators' leading scorer and the leader in goals this season. He has been very consistent and even more dominant recently, scoring 16 goals and recording 30 points in the last 20 games.
In 16 of the 20 games, Forsberg has recorded at least one point, only being held off the scoresheet once in the previous 16 games. In half of those 20 games, the sniper has produced multiple points, nine times scoring at least one goal and one assist.
Forsberg is currently riding an eight-game point streak in which he has eight goals and 16 points, but has multi-point games in five of his past six games, scoring seven goals and 14 points.
Nashville's goaltending and team defense is strong, so being able to consistently produce at least two points a night every second night on average will give the team a great chance to win, and it has.
It is unrealistic to think that anyone but a rare few can keep up a 1.5 points-per-game or better pace through an entire season, but in certain cases like this one for Forsberg, it is only needed for a 20-games stretch to help the team get in great position. It is one quarter of the season anyways. Forsberg is invaluable to the Predators and the team is fortunate to have a clutch player like him for at least six more years.
