Alexandre Carrier has received some interest as the Predators struggle this season.

The Nashville Predators are not at the point of selling this season, but rather upgrading.

According to Frank Seravalli, teams from asking about the availability of Alexandre Carrier as Nashville sits last in the league at 7-12-4.

Before the Predators start to sell anything, they will have to be taken right out of the playoff race or have tried upgrading more.

Carrier is a right-shot, right defense, so his value would be fairly high considering he is a well-rounded player who isn't bad in any area. He is a reliable option and has been moved up and tried on the top pairing with Roman Josi.

The Predators re-signed Carrier this off-season after he saw what was out there in free agency. The team brought him back on a three-year, $3.75 million AAV deal and I don't think they would be so quick to move on from him over some other defensemen on the roster.

Carrier is a good piece to keep around and at a very fair price. Unless the Predators completely tear it down, he is an easy choice to keep around. While he would fetch a solid return from a contender most likely, especially with the term on his contract, there is still hope that the team can turn it around like they did last season.

The 28-year-old has one goal and six points through 23 games with a goals for percentage of 31%, which is not good. But, when the Predators weren't a very bad team for the entirety of last season, Carrier had finished with four goals and 20 points in 73 games with a 50.60% goals for percentage.

At the very least, his value isn't at its peak and the Predators just moved off of a right-shot defenseman in Dante Fabbro when he was waived and picked up by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Even with Spencer Stastney back in action and defenders like Adam Wilsby and Nick Blankenburg on the roster as options, it's not the right time to trade Carrier and there's a reason why he is still with Nashville.

He has no trade protection, but don't expect Carrier to be traded this season.
