    On Saturday night, the New Jersey Devils earned a 4-1 victory over the Florida Panthers, who were on a nine-game winning streak, at Amerant Bank Arena.

    New Jersey has earned three out of four possible points and will conclude their three-game road trip versus the Boston Bruins before returning to Newark.

    Alexander Holtz scored his 10th goal of the season 3:50 into the first period. It marked his 20th point of the season. Rookie defenseman Simon Nemec and forward Curtis Lazar collected the assists.

    It was the 13th time this season that New Jersey scored the game's opening goal.

    At 14:45, Jesper Bratt extended New Jersey's lead to 2-0. Michael McLeod, who has points in four of his last five games, picked up the lone assist.

    New Jersey entered the first intermission with a 2-0 lead and a 12-8 shot advantage.

    Erik Haula extended the Devils lead early in the second period. His 10th goal of the season was unassisted.

    The Florida Panthers broke through in the waning seconds of the middle frame on the power play. Sam Reinhart scored his 31st goal of the season. Matthew Tkachuk and Brandon Montour collected the assists.

    After 40 minutes, the Devils held a 3-1 lead.

    The Panthers had a 5-0 shot advantage over the Devils after the first five minutes of the third period and had the momentum for most of the final 20 minutes. The Devils held on and earned a 4-1 victory after John Marino scored into the empty net in the last seconds of play, securing his team's 4-1.

    Devils goaltender Nico Daws made 36 saves on 37 shots.
