Jack Hughes sustained an undisclosed injury in Friday night's game versus the Chicago Blackhawks.

On Saturday evening, New Jersey Devils head coach Lindy Ruff addressed the media at 5:00 P.M. and provided an update on first-overall pick Jack Hughes.

"Jack won't play," he said. "It's not (confirmed) how long he will be out. (He is) still being evaluated. We will have a full update once he has gone through all the protocols."

Ruff added that it is an upper-body injury.

Hughes left Friday's game versus the Chicago Blackhawks late in the third period.

The Devils' injury list also includes Dougie Hamilton (IR), Tomas Nosek (IR), Timo Meier (IR), and Ondrej Palat (lower body).

Hughes was recently named as the Devils representative for the 2024 NHL All-Star Game. He leads his team with 45 points (15 goals, 30 assists) in 32 games.

The Devils will host Quinn Hughes and the Vancouver Canucks tonight at Prudential Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 P.M.
