New Jersey Devils' forward Tyler Toffoli is being held out of the lineup against the St. Louis Blues due to trade-related reasons.
Tonight's game against the Blues is their final game before the NHL trade deadline. The team will be without veteran forward Toffoli as GM Tom Fitzgerald listens to trade offers.
The Devils forward has been a sought-after asset for many playoff teams, including the Los Angeles Kings, Vegas Golden Knights, and the Vancouver Canucks.
Toffoli is a pending UFA, and the Devils could look to sell high on a player who isn't guaranteed to be with the team next season. Fitzgerald recently stated that he is not shopping Toffoli. In 2020, the general manager said the same thing about Blake Coleman, who he eventually moved to Tampa for a 1st round pick (Shakir Mukhamadullin) and Nolan Foote.
No information has been released about whether a trade is coming today, but the Devils seem to be close to finding a suitor for Toffoli.
