New Jersey Devils forward Tomas Nosek participated in the morning skate today after missing the previous two games with an undisclosed injury.
Nosek has played in 35 games this season scoring two goals and six points for the Devils.
The 31-year-old signed a one-year contract with the Devils in the offseason. He was brought in to win faceoffs and help improve the penalty kill. The Devils are 10th in the league in penalty kill percentage and fourth in faceoff percentage.
Nosek has struggled greatly with injuries this season. He had surgery on his broken foot which forced him to miss nearly three months.
The Devils last game of the season is tonight against the New York Islanders. It could be an important game for the Czech born player. He’s heading into this offseason without a contract. His age and recent injury history might put some fear in teams when it comes to negotiating with Nosek.
It’s his last chance this season to show what he can provide the Devils.
This game has no meaning standings wise for the Devils as they have already been eliminated from the playoffs but for the Islanders, it means everything. With a win they clinch not only a playoff spot but third place in the Metropolitan Division. The Devils will get a hungry Islanders team.
