Devils @ Blues - Enterprise Center

New Jersey will look to extend their winning streak to four games versus St. Louis. Last season, the Devils earned a 0-2-0 record against the Blues. Jack Hughes has collected four points (two goals, two assists) over his previous two games versus tonight's opponent.

The Blues are seventh in Central Divison (3-4-1) and have won two of three games at home. The club dropped their last two contests versus the Colorado Avalanche and Vancouver Canucks.

The stage is set for special teams to play a huge role in tonight's outcome.

New Jersey's power play is the best in the league, with the Devils scoring on the man advantage in eight of their first nine games. On the other side of the ice, St. Louis' penalty kill since Oct. 21 ranks second in the NHL at 92.9%. Per the media notes, the Blues have not allowed a power play goal to the Devils in five of their last six matchups, going 17 for 18 (94.4%) on the penalty kill over those six games.

"Special teams will be really important tonight," said Blues head coach Craig Berube after his team's morning skate. "Our penalty kill has to be really sharp, and we got to be disciplined too. ...(New Jersey) has an aggressive (penalty) kill, so we're going to have to move pucks quick and get to the net because if we keep passing it around, they're eventually going to kill that play."

  • The Devils injury report includes Hischier (upper-body), Tomas Nosek (lower-body, IR), and Colin Miller (lower-body, IR).
  • The Blues injury report includes Anton Malmstrom (undisclosed) and Josh Jacobs (undisclosed).
  • Per the Blues gameday preview, "They are one of three teams in the NHL to allow just one power-play goal since Oct. 21, going 13-for-14 on the penalty kill in that span."
  • Going back to Jan. 28, 2014, the Blues are 14-2-1 against the Devils (won 12 straight from Jan. 28, 2014 to Feb. 18, 2020).
  • Four Devils players projected to be in tonight's lineup, are still looking for their first point of the 2023-24 season: Chris Tierney, Curtis Lazar, Dawson Mercer, and Brendan Smith.
