There are several connections between New Jersey and Calgary. Regarding ex-Devils, Yegor Sharangovich will face his former team for the first time since the trade. He played 205 games as a member of the Devils, earning 106 points (53 goals, 53 assists). Former fan favorite Blake Coleman is in his third season with the Flames. He played the first 237 games of his NHL career in New Jersey before he was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The return was Nolan Foote and a draft pick that turned into Shakir Mukhamadullin, who eventually turned into Timo Meier. A.J. Greer also played nine games with the Devils during the 2021-22 season.
Former Flames on the Devils roster include Tyler Toffoli, who the Flames acquired during the 2021-22 season. He appeared in 119 games for the Flames, earning 45 goals and 51 assists for 96 points. Another mid-season acquistion by the Flames was Curtis Lazar from the Ottawa Senators. He played 70 games with the Flames through just under three seasons, scoring three goals and adding 12 assists.
Last season, the Devils had a 2-0-0 record versus the Flames. Per the media notes, it was the first time since the 1996-97 season that New Jersey earned a 2-0-0 record versus Calgary in a single season.
Jack Hughes has five points in four games versus tonight's opponent. Nico Hischier enters tonight's game with points in his last three meetings versus the Flames dating back to Mar. 16, 2022.
The Flames are fourth in the Pacific Division (11-12-3). They are coming off a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. Ex-Devils Blake Coleman earned two points, and Yegor Sharangovich collected one assist. Rasmus Andersson has seven points in seven games versus New Jersey.
