The New Jersey Devils will host the New York Islanders on Tuesday night at Prudential Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 P.M. The Devils held an optional morning skate. Per the team, the only players on the ice were Akira Schmid, Vitek Vanecek, Curtis Lazar, Ondrej Palat, and Nico Hischier.

Devils head coach Lindy Ruff met with the media at 10:45 A.M. and provided the following updates: Curtis Lazar is good to play versus the Islanders, Timo Meier skated on his own and is not an option Tuesday night, and Erik Haula is progressing and "in the coming days we will see where he is at."

Devils vs. Islanders - Prudential Center

Tonight will be the second meeting between the two teams this season. The Devils earned a 5-4 overtime win on Oct. 20 at UBS Arena. Jack Hughes collected four points (two goals, two assists) and scored the overtime game-winning goal.

The Islanders are fifth in the Metropolitan Divison (8-6-6). They are coming off a 1-0 shutout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin made 40 saves, including three in the shootout. Former Devil Kyle Palmieri has 14 points in 12 games versus New Jersey.

  • New Jersey's injury report includes Timo Meier (lower body), Tomas Nosek (upper body), and Erik Haula (lower body).
  • New York's injury report includes Sebastian Aho (undisclosed), Matt Martin (upper body), and Adam Pelech (lower body). Per the Islanders, Cal Clutterbuck and Simon Holmstrom are dealing with illnesses and are considered day-to-day. Martin joined the team for practice on Monday but remains on IR. His status for Tuesday's game is yet to be determined.
  • Before the Devils' optional morning skate, the organization announced they assigned Max Willman to the Utica Comets (American Hockey League). He appeared in four games this season, scoring one goal.
  • In New Jersey's last game versus the Buffalo Sabres, eight different Devils players earned a multi-point game: Dawson Mercer, Tyler Toffoli, Jesper Bratt, Luke Hughes, Ondrej Palat, Nico Hischier, Alexander Holtz, and Dougie Hamilton. Last season, the most amount of Devils players who earned a multi-point effort in a single game was six.
  • Holtz enters tonight's game on a two-game goal streak. Additionally, he has four points in his last five games.
  • The Islanders have earned points in their last six straight games and enter tonight's matchup with a 6-2-0 record in their previous eight visits to Prudential Center.
