New Jersey Devils defenseman John Marino will miss Tuesday night's game against the Washington Capitals due to an illness.

"Marino is sick and won't be available to play," head coach Lindy Ruff said.

It is the first game the 26-year-old will miss this season. Before tonight, Marino was one of three defensemen who appeared in all 54 games.

Marino has 19 points (four goals, 15 assists) this season. He has predominately made up the team's second defensive pair with rookie Luke Hughes.

The good news is Jonas Siegenthaler is returning to the lineup for the first time since he broke his foot against the Vancouver Canucks.

Per Devils' team reporter Catherine Bogart, below are the defensive pairs New Jersey will use against the Capitals:

    Jonas Siegenthaler - Simon Nemec

    Brendan Smith - Luke Hughes

    Kevin Bahl - Colin Miller
