New Jersey Devils forward Brian Halonen will make his season debut, and Stefan Noesen will return to the lineup.

A virus is making its way through the New Jersey Devils locker room.

During his pre-game media availability, head coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed that some players will be a game-time decision on Saturday afternoon against the Philadelphia Flyers during his pre-game media availability.

Keefe confirmed that forward Brian Halonen would enter the lineup and make his 2024-25 season debut. The 26-year-old is the Utica Comets (AHL) leading scorer with 13 goals and 21 points.

"He shoots the puck hard," Keefe said. "He can score goals. Strong, heavy on the puck. Those are the traits. He scored at the American League level. We will give him an opportunity today and see what he can bring to our group."

No one should question Halonen's ability to shoot, as his shot is his strongest asset. However, his skating should be monitored to see if he can keep pace with the Devils' speedy forward group.

New Jersey's head coach also confirmed that Stefan Noesen will return to the lineup after battling an illness. He has been sidelined for the past two games.

Justin Dowling did not take part in warm-ups. The Devils will use the following lineup against the Flyers.

Ondrej Palat - Jack Hughes - Jesper Bratt

Timo Meier - Nico Hischier - Stefan Noesen

Paul Cotter - Dawson Mercer - Brian Halonen

Tomas Tatar - Curtis Lazar - Nathan Bastian

    Brenden Dillon - Dougie Hamilton

    Jonas Siegenthaler - Johnathan Kovacevic

    Luke Hughes - Brett Pesce

    Jake Allen

Saturday marks Allen's first start since Jan 1. He will look for his first win since Nov 23. Against the Flyers, the veteran goaltender has a record of 2-3-0 against Philadelphia with a .890 save percentage and 3.23 goals-against average.

The puck drops between the Devils and Flyers at 12:30 P.M. Fans can watch on MSGSN or listen on the Devils Hockey Network.
