The New Jersey Devils returned to the ice after their three-day holiday break on Friday morning.

The team held its morning skate in preparation for their game against the Carolina Hurricanes at Prudential Center before embarking on its longest road trip of the 2024-25 season.

Ahead of the skate, the organization announced that defenseman Nick DeSimone had been recalled from the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League. He replaces Colton White, who is participating in the Spengler Cup in Switzerland as a member of Team Canada.

Justin Dowling remains with the club and will be in the lineup as Curtis Lazar will be held out.

"(Lazar) is feeling good. He is ready to go," Keefe said. "We have just elected here with the nature of the back-to-back and having a break, (it's) not an ideal situation for an injured player coming back into the lineup. But he feels really good and is available to play tonight and will be available to play tomorrow as well."

The Devils used the following lines and pairs on Monday morning:

Ondrej Palat - Jack Hughes - Jesper Bratt

Timo Meier - Nico Hischier - Stefan Noesen

Paul Cotter - Erik Haula - Dawson Mercer

Tomas Tatar - Justin Dowling - Nathan Bastian

    Brenden Dillon - Dougie Hamilton

    Jonas Siegenthaler - Johnathan Kovacevic

    Luke Hughes - Brett Pesce

    Jacob Markstrom

    Jake Allen

Extras: Nick DeSimone, Curtis Lazar, and Kurtis MacDermid

The puck drops between the Devils and Hurricanes at 7:08 P.M. Fans can watch on MSGSN or listen on the Devils Hockey Network.
