The Devils are in the third wild card spot with a record of 26-21-4.

The New Jersey Devils jumped back into the win column Monday night with a 3-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken at Prudential Center.

Early in the game, Devils defenseman John Marino crashed into the boards. An athletic trainer ran to the ice to tend to the North Easton, Massachusetts native. Marino managed to get up and skate to the bench on his own. He went down the tunnel a little over two minutes into the game, but thankfully for the team, the blueliner returned to the ice minutes later.

The Devils scored the game's opening goal 13:36 into the game. Tyler Toffoli scored his team-leading 22nd goal of the season on the power play.

Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes were credited with the helpers. It was Hughes' first point since returning from injury.

The Devils entered the first intermission with a 1-0 lead over the Kraken and a 12-7 shot advantage.

This season, New Jersey had a record of 9-3-2 when scoring first and an 11-1-1 record when they led after the first period.

A mere 48 seconds into the middle frame, Jack Hughes scored his first goal since returning to the lineup. The star forward banked a shot in off Kraken goaltender Joey Daccord's mask. Erik Haula was credited with the lone assist.

Dawson Mercer extended his team's lead to 3-0 with his 15th of the season. Timo Meier and Santeri Hatakka earned the assists.

"Good things happen when you stop in front of the net," Mercer said To MSGN host Erika Wachter during the second intermission.

New Jersey outshot Seattle 17-8 in the second period. At one point, they had a 14-0 shot advantage.

Halfway into the third period, Seattle scored their lone goal of the night. Will Borgen's wrist shot beat Nico Daws for his second of the season.

Jordan Eberle and Jared McCann were credited with the assists.

After 60 minutes, the Devils skated off with a 3-1 victory and two crucial points. Daws made 27 saves to earn the win in his first start since Jan. 25.
