    NEWARK, N.J. -- On Wednesday morning, New Jersey Devils rookies reported to Prudential Center for training camp. The organization released its roster for the 2023 Prospects Challenge in Buffalo, which is headlined by defenseman Simon Nemec.

    The event will begin Friday at LECOM Harborcenter in Buffalo, NY, featuring the Devils, Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Buffalo Sabres.

    Below is everything you need to know before New Jersey's first game on Friday afternoon.

    New Jersey's Roster

    Forwards: Cole Brown, Graeme Clarke, Filip Engras, Josh Filmon, TJ Friedman, Brian Halonen, Michael Horth, Timur Ibragimov, Jace Isley, Erik Middendorf, Xavier Parent, Cam Squires, and Chase Stillman.

    Defensemen: Colin Felix, Santeri Hatakka, Luke Hughes, Will MacKinnon, Daniil Misyul, Simon Nemec, Oscar Plandowski, and Topias Vilen.

    Goaltenders: Tyler Brennan, Riley Mercer, Isaac Poulter.

    Quick Hits and Observations

    - The organization announced that Luke Hughes would not join the team in Buffalo, allowing him to focus on the main camp.

    - Clarke, Halonen, and Nemec have been named the team's three alternate captains.

    - Clarke, Halonen, Stillman, Filmon, Parent, Nemec, Vilen, Brennan, and Poulter were in Buffalo for the 2022 Prospects Challenge.

    - Riley Mercer is the younger brother of Devils forward Dawson Mercer. He is with the Devils as a tryout with Horth, Isley, and Plandowski. Last year, Riley represented the Montreal Canadiens at the Prospects Challenge
