    On Monday afternoon, the New Jersey Devils announced that prospect Cam Squires has been assigned from the Cape Breton Eagles (QMJHL) to the Utica Comets (AHL).

    The Eagles were eliminated from the playoffs on April 7 in a loss to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. The young forward had a team-leading 75 points (24 goals, 51 assists) in 58 games this season.

    Squires signed his three-year entry-level contract on July 19, 2024. New Jersey selected the 20-year-old 122nd overall in the fourth round of the 2023 NHL Draft.

    The Comets have three games remaining on their schedule. They will host the Toronto Marlies on April 16 at Adirondack Bank Center and the Syracuse Crunch on April 18. Their 2024-25 season will conclude against the Crunch at Upstate Medical University Arena on April 19.
