On Wednesday morning, Ryan Parent had the Interim tag removed from his title and was officially named the head coach of the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League.

The 38-year-old replaced Kevin Dineen on Nov. 6, 2024, after the Comets began the 2024-25 season with a 0-8-1 record. Parent coached the Comets to a 31-33-6-2 record.

To round out his coaching staff, Mark Voakes, who spent the past three seasons as a Player Development Coach within the organization, has been promoted to Assistant Coach. Additionally,  Matt Carkner has joined the organization as an Assistant Coach. Goaltending Coach Brian Eklund will return, as well as Video Coach Brian Suslow.

All announcements were made by New Jersey Devils’ President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald and Devils’ Assistant General Manager/Utica Comets General Manager Dan MacKinnon.
