The New Jersey Devils have assigned Santeri Hatakka to the Utica Comets.

Jonas Siegenthaler and Kurtis MacDermaid returned to practice today and in order for them to be eligible to play someone had to be sent down to the AHL. Hatakka was the player the Devils decided on.

The Finnish defenseman played in five games since being called up to the NHL but failed to record a point. He's played in 12 games this season for the Devils.

Hatakaa will return to the Comets where he's played 41 games. In those 41 games he's recorded four goals and 17 points.

The 23-year-old was acquired in the Timo Meier trade. The San Jose Sharks drafted him in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL draft.
