Miller has not appeared in a game for the Devils this season.

NEWARK, N.J. — The New Jersey Devils announced defenseman Colin Miller (lower body) has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to Oct. 19, 2023.

Miller's injury occurred during a team practice when he fell into the end-boards. He appeared to be in pain when he skated over to the bench. He remained on the bench for a couple of minutes before going to the locker room with a trainer.

The blueliner has not appeared in a game for the Devils and has served as their extra defenseman since the season opened on Oct. 12.

New Jersey acquired the 31-year-old on July 1, 2023 from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. He has appeared in 466 career NHL games collecting 157 points (35 goals, 122 assists).

Cal Foote was recalled from the American Hockey League on Oct. 23, taking Miller's spot as the extra defenseman. He has yet to make his season debut.
