The New Jersey Devils improved to a record of 36-32-2 on Tuesday after the team defeated the Dallas Stars 6-4.
This victory also meant the team improved to 22-0-0 when leading after two periods.
The Devils' strong early offense gave them a 4-1 lead going into the second period, setting the tone for the rest of the game.
Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, Dougie Hamilton, and Jonas Siegenthaler each earned two points on Tuesday.
Speaking about the game, Bratt commented on the advantages of starting strong.
"Obviously, it felt good to get that kind of start,” Bratt said to NJD.tv. “It’s kind of been the opposite most of the season for us, to create scoring chances, but the puck really hasn’t gone in. Obviously, it felt good in our response and attention.”
Although the Stars scored twice in the second period, Timo Meier responded with a goal to restore the Devils' lead. Dougie Hamilton followed with an empty-netter, ultimately securing the win.
Bratt shared his perspective on the latter portion of the game.
“We knew coming in here before the second period that they were going to have a push," Bratt added. "They’re second team in the league, they’re not just going to walk away. We knew they would have pushes. I think overall we were pretty calm in the situation, we managed it pretty well.”
Looking ahead, as the team enters its final 12 games of the season, maintaining offensive rhythm remains a priority.
Following the victory, Connor Brown shared his thoughts on the team's performance.
“I thought we did a good job keeping our heads up and making the next play,” Brown said. “We weren’t just packing it in and trying to defend; we went out and scored a few more. It was all in all a good effort from the guys.”
The Devils will play again on Thursday, taking on the Nashville Predators.
