

NEWARK, N.J. -- Another game, another New Jersey Devils player who is missing at the start of the third period.
Defenseman Dougie Hamilton did not come out with his team at the start of the final frame of his team's game versus the New York Islanders.
He played a mere 13:25, including 49 seconds of power play time. He finished the game with two shots on goal and one penalty.
After the game, head coach Lindy Ruff revealed he has an upper-body injury and could not play.
Hamilton leads all New Jersey defensemen with 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 20 games. He has averaged 21:22 of ice time, which leads all New Jersey skaters, while his 24 blocked shots are third among defensemen.
The Devils injury report also includes Timo Meier (lower body), Tomas Nosek (upper body), Erik Haula (lower body), and Nolan Foote (upper body).
