The NHL is going to have its "Hometown Remix" era start in 2026-26, and New Jersey Devils fans have their preference.

The National Hockey League, according to reports for months, is going to launch its “Hometown Remix” era ahead of the 2026-27 season. These uniforms, in partnership with Fanatics, are going to embrace the culture the team comes from.

For the New Jersey Devils, the rumor has been that it will be a black jersey with an unclear color trim. Icethetics, a credible NHL jersey source, went into more detail here

New Jersey retired the “Jersey jersey” at the end of the 2025-26 season. This was a black sweater with the word “Jersey” on the crest. The trim of the uniform was white with a shade of red. This was the first alternate sweater in the history of the franchise.

The Devils had two Reverse Retro-branded jerseys, but they were their standard logo on sweaters with colors that gave a nod to the past. If they make their Hometown Remix a black jersey, it will be embracing the future of the franchise.

Is this the color scheme that fans actually desire? Did the Devils and Fanatics nail what people who will be buying them actually want? We took a poll on social media to get some feedback.

The poll options were a black jersey with red trim, a green jersey with red trim, a red jersey with black trim, or a red jersey with green trim. All of these schemes would fit with the organization's history and its connection to The Garden State.

The results overwhelmingly (61%) favored a black jersey with red trim. 15% voted for a green jersey with red trim, 13% asked for a red jersey with green trim, and 11% liked the red jersey with black trim.

Maybe Fanatics did their homework, because it seems like most fans are looking for more black New Jersey Devils gear. All signs point to that being the case with this newest NHL uniform project.
