NEWARK, N.J. -- In the NHL, injuries lead to opportunities.

With Jack Hughes out of the lineup with an upper-body injury, 22-year-old Graeme Clarke will slot in versus the Vancouver Canucks and make his NHL debut.

On Jan. 3, Clarke was recalled from the Utica Comets (American Hockey League) to join the Devils in Washington, D.C.

"I was in Utica last night and then got a call, and I'm in Washington the next day," Clarke said on Jan. 3. "(It) happens really fast, and obviously, I'm really excited to be here and wouldn't want it any other way."

The 6-foot forward has been a healthy scratch for the past two Devils games, patiently waiting for his opportunity.

Clarke has appeared in 27 games for the Comets this season and has collected 21 points, including a team-leading 11 goals.

Fans will find out where Clarke fits into the lineup when the team hits the ice for warmups around 6:30 P.M. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 P.M. between the Devils and Canucks.
