Lazar played 4:14 versus the Blue Jackets Friday afternoon.

NEWARK, N.J. -- The injury-riddled New Jersey Devils lost another forward Friday afternoon in the team's 2-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Curtis Lazar sustained an injury in the first period of his team's game versus Columbus. He played 4:14 and was credited with four hits. The 28-year-old briefly returned to the ice during a commercial break and took a couple of spins on the ice before heading back down the tunnel.

After the game, head coach Lindy Ruff said, "He gave it a try and couldn't come back. He is questionable for tomorrow (versus the Buffalo Sabres)."

The Devils are also without forwards Nico Hischier, Timo Meier, and Tomas Nosek.

Through 17 games, Lazar has five points (three goals, two assists). He has a team-leading 37 hits and has played up and down the lineup this season. Against the Blue Jackets, he was on the second line alongside Erik Haula and Dawson Mercer.
