The New Jersey Devils announced Wednesday that defenseman Luke Hughes was placed on Long Term Injured Reserve (LTIR).
Hughes suffered a shoulder injury during the team's 2-1 overtime win against the Calgary Flames on Monday.
The 22-year-old defenseman played 49 games this season, earning 26 points. He will miss at least 10 games and 24 days.
He has spent his entire career with the Devils after being drafted fourth overall in 2021.
Over his entire NHL career with the Devils, Hughes has played 204 games, recording 119 points (22 goals, 97 assists).
As of Thursday, the Devils are sixth in the Metropolitan Division with a 26-22-2 record. They prepare to face the Vancouver Canucks on Friday without Hughes.
