New Jersey Devils Prospect Mikael Diotte is heading to the Memorial Cup in Saginaw after the Drummondville Voltigeurs won the QMJHL Championship.
The Devils signed Diotte to a three-year entry-level contract on Mar. 2. The 21-year-old is a 6'3, 205 lbs right-handed defenseman.
This season he scored 12 goals and 42 points in 59 games. In the playoffs, he registered three goals and 10 points in 19 games.
His offensive numbers look great for a defenseman but his best aspect of his game is his defensive ability. Diotte was the winner of the Kevin-Lowe trophy which is given to the QMJHL's Top Defensive Defenseman.
Drummondville were dominant on their way to the QMJHL Championship. They dropped just three games including a sweep in the finals over Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
The three teams they'll be competing with are the Saginaw Spirit, who are the host city and lost in the OHL semi-finals to the winner of the OHL championship, the London Knights and the Moose Jaw Warriors who were the winners of the WHL.
Diotte is playing in his final year of CHL hockey and will join either the Utica Comets or Adirondack Thunder at the start of the 2024-25 season.
