Tomáš Prokop of Dennik Sport has provided updates on the youngster's status.

"Simon Nemec has an upper-body injury. Nothing is broken or dislocated, but it is painful," said Pavol Lauko, the doctor of the Slovakian National Team.

Prokop confirmed that Nemec will fly to New Jersey next week for more tests. At this time, it is unclear if the blueliner will undergo any further testing in Slovakia.

Nemec made his NHL debut on Dec. 1, 2023, against the San Jose Sharks. He earned two assists and played over 22 minutes. He concluded the 2023-24 season with 19 points (three goals, 16 assists) in 60 games.

The organization previously announced that Devils rookies will report to training camp on Sept. 11, while veterans will return the following week on Sept. 18.

Many expect Nemec to begin the 2024-25 season in New Jersey and join the Devils' defensive core, which also includes Dougie Hamilton, Jonas Siegenthaler, Luke Hughes, Brett Pesce, and Brenden Dillon.

If or when injuries occur to his blue line, general manager Tom Fitzgerald ensured his team would be prepared by acquiring Johnathan Kovacevic and signing Nick DeSimone, Santeri Hatakka, and Colton White as reinforcements this summer.
