Here's a recap of the latest Devils' news and notes from the past week.

NEWARK, N.J. -- New Jersey Devils rookies will report to training camp in 14 days. The 2023-24 season is approaching as your favorite players prepare to return to the Garden State.

Let's look at the biggest headlines of the past week.

    New Jersey Devils Headlines

    - NHL.com Senior Writer Dan Rosen interviewed Jesper Bratt at the NHL European Player Media Tour. Within the interview, the 25-year-old spoke about his eight-year contract and the addition of Tyler Toffoli.

"I think having (Toffoli) as a winger playing with Nico or Jack, it's going to be a really good piece of the puzzle," said Bratt to Rosen. "It's something we talked about on the power play, too, to add another righty (shot) to keep that dynamic. I think he's the perfect fit."

    - Michael Russo of The Athletic recently spoke with NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly and asked him for an update on the 2018 Hockey Canada World Juniors investigation.

"I do think we expect to see a final report very shortly, and then what flows from that is really an unknown at this point. But I expect that that’ll play out, this is going to sound redundant, but sooner rather than later." (from Bill Daly Q&A: Latest on the Coyotes arena saga, Bally Sports, and more from the NHL deputy commissioner, The Athletic, 08/29.23)

    - The Vancouver Canucks released a video segment called "Going Home" and featured the oldest Hughes brother, Quinn. Both Luke and Jack Hughes make appearances throughout the 6:41-minute video. One fun fact viewers learned was that one of Luke's nicknames is Rusty, after Brad Pitt's character in the Ocean's film series, because he is always eating.

    - Devils head coach Lindy Ruff traveled to KeyBank Center in Buffalo to honor late Sabres broadcaster Rick Jeanneret. He joined Don Granato, among others, in front of thousands of fans to reminisce about the man behind the mic

    - The 2023 BioSteel NHL Camp is underway. Former Devil and current Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Ryan Graves is in attendance, along with Connor McDavid, Cale Makar, and Nathan MacKinnon.

     - Training camp may still be a few weeks away, but the Washington Capitals already held informal skates. According to THN's Sammi Silber, the following players are all taking part: John Carlson, Joe Snively, Darcy Kuemper, Alex Limoges and Alex Alexeyev, Nicklas Backstrom, and Joel Edmundson.

    -  We are days away from September, and there is still no clarity on the future of New York Islanders forward Zach Parise. One of New Jersey's most prominent rivals has options to replace the former Devils captain, according to THN's Stefen Rosner. Only time will tell if Parise, who played 502 games with the Devils, will hang up his skates after 18 seasons.
