    Here's a recap of the latest Devils' news and notes from the past week.

    NEWARK, N.J. -- This time next week, some of the New Jersey Devils' best rookies will be in Buffalo participating in the 2023 Prospects Challenge alongside the Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens, and Pittsburgh Penguins. With hockey right around the corner, let's look at the past week's biggest headlines.

    New Jersey Devils Headlines

    - Jamie Langenbrunner will be inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame. The announcement was made early Friday. The now 48-year-old was New Jersey's captain for four seasons, appearing in 564 games. He was part of the Devils' 2003 Stanley Cup Championship team and scored a team-leading 11 goals in the playoffs. The U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Celebration will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, in Boston. Per the Boston Bruins website, Langenbrunner works in hockey operations as assistant general manager-player personnel.

    - Stefan Matteau could be returning to the NHL. He signed a professional tryout with the Columbus Blue Jackets, a team he previously played parts of two seasons for. Originally New Jersey's 29th overall pick in 2012, he was part of the organization from 2012-2016. Last season, the 29-year-old played overseas for the ERC Ingolstadt of the DEL.

    - Plenty of former Devils players will be attending training camps throughout the Metropolitan Division. Here is a breakdown of who is where: Stefan Noesen (CAR), Damon Severson (CBJ), Stefan Matteau (CBJ), Kyle Palmieri (NYI), Jimmy Vesey (NYR), Louis Domingue (NYR), Andreas Johnsson (PIT), Will Butcher (PIT), Ryan Graves (PIT), Ty Smith (PIT).

    - Speaking of the Penguins, they have been holding unofficial skates, and per Taylor Haase of DK Pittsburgh Sports, Ty Smith has been one of the participants. He will compete with Pierre-Olivier Joseph in training camp for a regular roster spot on Pittsburgh's blue line.
