SUNRISE, F.L. -- Former New Jersey Devils defenseman Dmitry Kulikov is heading to the Stanley Cup Final.
On Saturday night, the Florida Panthers eliminated the New York Rangers in Game 6 at Amerant Bank Arena by a final score of 2,1.
The 33-year-old has made the postseason in eight of his 15 seasons in the NHL, but this is the first time Kulikov will make an appearance in the final.
He appeared in 17 games this postseason and averaged just under 14 minutes. He has been utilized on the Panthers' third defensive pair alongside Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
The veteran blueliner signed with New Jersey as a free agent on Oct. 22, 2020. He appeared in 38 games and earned two assists before being traded to the Edmonton Oilers for a conditional pick in the 2022 NHL Draft on Apr. 12, 2021, that turned into Charlie Leddy.
Kulikov will move on to either face Scott Wedgewood and the Dallas Stars or Adam Henrique and the Edmonton Oilers. Game 6 of the Western Conference Final is scheduled for Sunday, June 2. The Oilers will have the opportunity to eliminate the Stars at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
