New Jersey Devils prospect Seamus Casey's last game with the Utica Comets was back on Dec. 14.

He has been sidelined for the past several weeks with an upper-body injury, but according to interim head coach Ryan Parent, the 21-year-old's return is nearing.

"I think he is on pace (with his original timeline), if not, maybe a little bit ahead of schedule," he said.

Despite the rookie defenseman having to withdraw from the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic, which will be held on Feb. 4-5, Casey should return to the lineup at the beginning of February.

"He is skating now," Parent continued. "He is limited with puck handling and puck touches."

Casey began the 2024-25 season with the Devils, making his NHL debut in Prague, Czechia, as part of the 2024 NHL Global Series. He appeared in eight games with New Jersey, earning four points (three goals, one assist) before being assigned to the American Hockey League (AHL) on Oct. 21.

With the Comets, he has potted two goals and has 14 points in 17 games. He began his AHL career with a seven-game point streak.
