Imagine watching your dad play in the NHL and be one of, if not the greatest goalie to ever play, and then years later, have a chance to play goalie for that same team.
It'd be a surreal experience, and for Jeremy Brodeur, he got to live that last night against the New York Rangers.
With the NHL team over in Prague, tonight's Devils squad for their pre-season game against the Rangers was their "B" team for the most part. Which players had a chance to play who may not have had the chance had their main group been here.
The one highlighted name the second their lineup was released was Brodeur.
For so many Devils fans, Marty Brodeur was their favorite player growing up, the goalie who helped them hoist two Stanley Cups in 1995 and 2001.
Last night, those same fans were able to watch his son Jeremy take on the Rangers and come out with the win.
Brodeur stopped 29 shots and helped the Devils secure a 3-1 win over the Rangers. This may not be the last of seeing him play, either. The Devils currently have two more pre-season games before their season opener on Oct. 5.
They play the Rangers again tomorrow night, which he is unlikely to start due to it being back-to-back. However, in their last pre-season game on Oct. 3 against the Philadelphia Flyers, he could be given the start again.
A truly incredible story; congrats, Jeremy!
