ANAHEIM, C.A. -- After a day off in Anaheim on Wednesday, the New Jersey Devils hit the ice at Honda Center Thursday afternoon to prepare for Friday's game against the Anaheim Ducks.
Veteran defenseman Brendan Smith was absent from the team's practice.
"(He's) a little banged up from the last game," head coach Lindy Ruff said. "We will see where he is at for tomorrow."
Forward Lines & Defensive Pairs:
Timo Meier - Nico Hischier - Jesper Bratt
Ondrej Palat - Jack Hughes - Curtis Lazar
Tyler Toffoli - Erik Haula - Dawson Mercer
Brian Halonen - Tomas Nosek - Alexander Holtz
Kevin Bahl - John Marino
Luke Hughes - Colin Miller
Jonas Siegenthaler - Simon Nemec
Nico Daws/Akira Schmid
Extras: Chris Tierney & Nick DeSimone
Ruff kept his top three lines intact from their previous game against the San Jose Sharks. In that game, Hischier's line had a combined eight points. Halonen and Nosek were healthy scratches as the coaching staff deployed 11 forwards and seven defensemen.
