Team Hughes selected Jesper Bratt with their fifth pick.

New Jersey Devils winger Jesper Bratt will play for Team Hughes in the 2024 NHL All-Star Game. Jack and Quinn Hughes are the team's co-captains, while Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson served as their assistant captain.

Bratt joins Nikita Kucherov, Thatcher Demko, Kyle Connor, Brady Tkachuk, Cam Talbot, Brock Boeser, J.T. Miller, and Frank Vatrano.

On Jan. 30, the NHL announced Bratt was added to the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend roster, replacing Hughes. The 25-year-old Swede will not participate in the skills competition. The League announced New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal will replace Hughes as a participant in the 2024 NHL All-Star Skills.

This is Bratt's first NHL All-Star appearance. Before heading to Toronto, he enjoyed a sunny getaway with Devils teammates Nico Hischier, Timo Meier, and Jonas Siegenthaler.

Bratt has a team-leading 50 points (19 goals, 31 assists) in 47 games this season. It marks the third consecutive season he has reached the 50-point mark. He entered the All-Star break with points in his previous four games.

Hughes has been out of New Jersey's lineup since Jan. 5, dealing with an upper-body injury. This is the third time he has been named NHL All-Star.

During the draft, Hughes was asked why he came to Toronto despite being unable to play.

"Draft a team with my brother," he said with a smile. "That's pretty fun. I think we drafted a good team. Hopefully, they win it."

All-Stars Skills will begin at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, Feb. 2. The All-Star Game will take place at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, Feb. 3.
