NEWARK, N.J. -- After taking Sunday off, the New Jersey Devils held an 11:00 a.m. practice Monday at RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House.
As expected, Kurtis MacDermid joined the team for the first time since sustaining a lower-body injury against the Ottawa Senators. After practice, the 30-year-old said it was great to be able to join the guys on the ice.
For roughly 40 minutes, the team ran drills focusing on special teams, breakouts, and faceoffs.
"There are subtle little picks that you might run on a faceoff," interim head coach Travis Green said to a small scrum of reporters. "Certain body positioning, based on where the other team is. I'm talking about neutral and defensive zone faceoffs, but every zone has its nuances within it that you're looking to get an advantage."
