The Devils will play the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night as they look to make up ground in the playoff race.

After dropping a crucial game Sunday afternoon, The New Jersey Devils traveled to California for their three-game road trip.

The club will rest on Monday and have a morning skate at SAP Center on Tuesday morning ahead of their tilt against the San Jose Sharks.

Goaltender Vitek Vanecek, who remains on injured reserve, did not travel with the team. Head coach Lindy Ruff shared on Sunday that there is a possibility the netminder will join the team later as he has been skating.

The team will be without winger Nathan Bastian for the immediate future. The 26-year-old sustained a lower-body injury against the New York Rangers and was placed on injured reserve on Feb. 23.

"Right now, I can just say that he is going to miss some time," Ruff said.

On Monday afternoon, the Devils announced that Nolan Foote was assigned to the Utica Comets (American Hockey League) for a conditioning stint. It is another step in the right direction for the 23-year-old, who recently rejoined his team for practice.

The Devils will face the San Jose Sharks (Feb. 27), Anaheim Ducks (Mar. 1), and Los Angeles (Mar. 3) before returning home for a three-game homestand. The Devils have lost the first meeting against all three California teams this season.

The club is seven points out of a playoff spot with 24 regular season games remaining.
