Siegenthaler did not return to the game.
NEWARK, N.J. -- NHL Player Safety announced that New York Rangers' Matt Rempe will have a hearing today for elbowing New Jersey Devils' Jonas Siegenthaler.
Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic confirmed the hearing will take place over the phone, which means it will be five games or less.
Rempe went in for a hit on Jonas Siegenthaler late in the second period. Before contact was made, the Rangers forward lifted his elbow, which made contact with Siegenthaler's jaw.
Kurtis MacDermid attempted to go after Rempe, but the referees kept the two apart.
Siegenthaler did not return to the game after the hit. When asked after the game, interim head coach Travis Green said his defenseman was "not doing great."
