It has been a tough start to the season for former New Jersey Devils goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that the Colorado Avalanche placed the 28-year-old on waivers Monday afternoon.
The Devils acquired Kahkonen at the trade deadline, sending Vitek Vanecek and a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft to the San Jose Sharks. He appeared in six games for New Jersey before hitting free agency and signing with the Winnipeg Jets.
The goaltender was waived by the Jets earlier this season and claimed by the Avalanche. He appeared in one game, on Oct. 30, against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Kahkonen allowed four goals on 20 shots in Colorado's 5-2 loss.
